●Basic composition

The power relay is mainly composed of the following parts:

▶Iron core: usually made of soft magnetic material, used to enhance electromagnetic induction intensity. ▶Coil: When current is applied, it will generate electromagnetic force, which is the "driving source" of relay.

▶Armature: under the action of electromagnetic force, it will rotate or move, thus driving the contact action.

▶Contacts: including moving contacts and static contacts, are the key parts of relay to realize circuit on and off. Contacts that are in an open state when no power is applied are called normally open contacts, and those that are in a closed state are called normally closed contacts.

▶Reset spring: when the coil is powered off, it can restore the armature and contact to the initial state.

●Working Principle

When a certain voltage or current is applied to both ends of the relay coil, electromagnetic effect will be generated in the coil, and the iron core will generate strong electromagnetic attraction, which will attract the armature and drive it to move, so that the moving contact can contact or separate from the static contact (normally open contact is closed and normally closed contact is open), and the control of the controlled system can be realized. When the coil is powered off, the electromagnetic attraction disappears, and the return spring will pull the armature back to its original position, and the contact will also return to the initial state.

Power relays are widely used in various fields, such as: Industrial automation: it is used to control the start and stop of motors, solenoid valves, heaters and other equipment in the production line to realize the automatic production process. Power system: used to protect the circuit. When the circuit has faults such as overcurrent and overvoltage, the relay will cut off the circuit and protect the power equipment.
